Project Title:
Using Web Sites To Develop Mathematics SOL. Linked Content Based Problems: Action Research Linking Middle Schools.

Project's Goals, Objectives, Activities, and Participants:

Twenty-four continuing teachers plus twenty-four new teachers from ten school divisions assumed leadership roles in their own professional development by becoming Internet "web designers and web guides", acquiring and applying skills as Mathematics Standards of Learning problem developers and peer coaches. Participants developed math projects and posted their sites and pages to the World Wide Web.  Several of the projects were developed from resources that were obtained through V-Quest, and from additional materials developed and validated through teacher use and revision during the 1996-97 grant year.  The use of integrated training models incorporated basic technology skills, analytical problem solving and creative inquiry providing participants with the necessary foundation to implement and support systemic improvement in mathematics curriculum and instruction in their home school sites. The project design and evaluations were based on an interactive model of "organizational learning."
